After years of wrecking myself for the next shot that would give me that feeling, I realized I simply desired being wrecked, finding the bottom of my barrel and encouraging others to do the same. Deep down inside I genuinely believed that if we each found the bottom of our barrels we would all understand each other a lot better.

I am forever grateful for this moment in its absolute raw truth. Timmy told me in passing a few days before they would go for the speed record on the Nose that at that time had stood for almost 11 years. I loved being on El Cap and miss it dearly. Timmy would become a good friend, whom I still send harassing messages to while he is on daddy duty. Dean will be forever missed, his influence on the world of climbers and those pushing their limits is overwhelming.
